Big Monster Studio LLC is a Chicago-based production and post-production studio founded by Luisa Bott and Ying Su.
We work with businesses, organizations, agencies, artists, filmmakers, and private clients to create thoughtful, visually driven work across film, video, photography, and post-production.
Our studio brings creative development, production, cinematography, photography, editing, and color together under one roof. Depending on the project, we can work as a focused small team or build a larger crew and equipment package around the needs of the production.
Alongside our client work, we continue to develop original films and support independent filmmakers and artists. That creative foundation remains an important part of Big Monster Studio, even as the studio continues to grow into new areas of production and media.

We can take a project from an early idea through pre-production, production, and post, or join an existing project for a specific part of the process.
Some clients come to us for a complete production. Others need a cinematographer, event team, photographer, editor, colorist, producer, or additional production support.
The studio is designed to be flexible around what the project actually needs.

Big Monster Studio was created around a simple idea: good work happens when creativity and execution are given equal attention.
A strong idea needs more than a camera. It needs planning, collaboration, technical knowledge, communication, and a team that understands what the project is trying to accomplish.
We built Big Monster Studio to bring those pieces together.
For our clients, that means having a studio that can help take an idea from the first conversation through production and final delivery.
For filmmakers and artists, it means continuing to create a space where ambitious independent work, collaboration, and experimentation are encouraged.
And for our own studio, it means continuing to develop original films and creative projects alongside the work we produce for others.
We don’t believe every production needs the same crew, camera package, or workflow.
Some projects are best served by a small, efficient team. Others require additional camera, lighting, audio, photography, production, or post-production specialists.
Big Monster Studio builds the team and technical approach around each project.
Our in-house capabilities can also be expanded through our relationships with crew, collaborators, and professional Chicago rental houses when a production requires additional equipment or resources.
This allows the studio to stay personal and flexible while scaling appropriately for larger productions.
